CARE began working in Sri Lanka in 1950, initially providing food to those most in need, and working with mothers and their children on health issues. Now we focus on managing agriculture and natural resources, developing small businesses, and relief and rehabilitation projects.

CHA was founded in April 1997 to serve a membership and has since become a national service provider in the non-profit sector. It is representative of the resources and work of the humanitarian sector in Sri Lanka.

The Department of Economics is one of the oldest and most possibly the most popular departments in the Faculty of Arts with 700 undergraduates – including students who take Economics as one of three subjects in a General Arts degree, and those who take Special Arts degree in Economics.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung(FES), the oldest political foundation in Germany established in 1925, is a private, public-interest institution committed to the ideals of Social Democracy. It bears the name of the first democratically elected German President, Friedrich Ebert, and carries on his legacy by shaping freedom, solidarity and social justice by political means. The Foundation fulfils this mission both within the country and abroad through its programs of political education, international cooperation, scholarships and research. 

The HARTI was established in order to generate a range of policy analysis that would cover those key determinants of human and resource development in the agrarian sector. Statutorily established in 1972 in collaboration with the UNDP/FAO, the Institute functions under the Ministry of Agriculture.
