Moonlighting: How does it affect the Poor? by Sumadi Samaraweera
The poor, facing absolute or relative poverty, are a key group who moonlight to uplift their living conditions. Professionals are another group who moonlight.
The term moonlighting is used for workers holding two or more jobs and the use of this term results from such work often being undertaken at night. Moonlighting has several advantages for the poor because it allows the poor to increase income and to be empowered through self employment initiatives. However moonlighting at a professional level can create both positive and negative influences on the poor, which is also discussed on the blog.
