An in-depth study on the access needs of a poor, marginalized tribal community inhabiting an isolated of hilly, jungle area far removed from main population centres, was felt imperative in formulating intervention measures to enhance their livelihood support systems. With this end in view, ORFRTD proposed to conduct this in-depth survey of a sample area, broadly keeping in line with the integrated rural accessibility planning approach. This proposal was appreciated by ITDG South Asia, who commissioned this study.
