This document reviews the problem of human trafficking in six Asian countries, namely Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Indonesia. Cross-border trafficking is a violation of ones’ human rights that must be addressed with greater diligence. The document uses case studies and a country by country analysis to focus on the trafficking of children. There is a review of the existing laws in each country followed by recommendations to ensure more effective action. The inadequacies and problems prevalent in existing legislation regarding trafficking are highlighted. The need for legislative reforms and proactive steps by governments are discussed in keeping with the existing regional and international conventions.
