This book is divided into three parts. After an introductory essay by Tissa Abeysekera on the cross cutting between electronic media and cultural change, the first section of the book focuses on three interpretations of the impact of television on youth. Yolanda Foster highlights the two sides of globalization in terms of TV impact to create a global culture, locally. S.T Hettige provides a framework of socio-economic change due to political and economic change in Sri Lanka and locates the role of electronic media in this context, followed by some critical reflections on the possible impact of television on youth in the country. This book also contains various other articles on globalization, electronic media and cultural change by many renowned authors.
