This book serves as a basic training manual in mental health care for Sri Lankan doctors. It is the outcome of a Continuing Professional Development Program conducted in 2012 and 2014 by the Sri Lankan College of Psychiatrists, to sensitize doctors to mental health disorders and assist with identification and treatment. The book covers the history of psychiatry in Sri Lanka, and addresses identification and suggests basic treatments and resources for several common mental disorders, including anxiety, substance use disorder, suicide and gender based violence.
