To gain systematic understanding on reducing poverty, a great deal can be learned from people who have actually moved out of poverty and stayed out of poverty. The purpose of this book is to conduct a large scale global study in 10 to 15 countries, to learn retrospectively from those who were once poor, but have moved out of poverty and stayed out of poverty in different political, governance and economic environments. The global breadth of the study will enable examination of these aspects in order to contribute to new methodological approaches to building on available poverty data and integrating quantitative and qualitative methods.
