For some years now, efforts have been underway to develop methods which will overcome the negative experience of participants in group events. The participatory approach was developed during various seminars on rural development and, above all, in the field of cooperatives. It started with attempts to allow experts and trainers in specific fields to gain experience as moderators in the participatory approach, by applying it in events, together with training method specialists. Through this process the methods were adapted to the special requirements of rural development. This study explores and develops forms and techniques that aim at a major intensity and quality in the communication between persons, groups, and institutions. The study tries to contribute didactic means that facilitate the training or the exchanges of experience and to make the planning, execution and evaluation processes more transparent and democratic. This publication is addressed primarily to those persons, who are already experimenting with this type of method. It may be used as a source of support and reference to all those who work with participatory techniques and who want to continue to work in a team of moderators.
