This book is the second in a series of research publications being prepared by the Social Scientists’ Association on the current situation of the plantation industry and deals with specific problems associated with privatisation of plantations. The intention of this publication is to open up the debate on privatisation at another level, and to pose for discussion the many problems associated with privatisation against the background of the need for sustained growth, making the most effective and environmentally beneficent use of the large land resources that are devoted to this industry.
