This case study provides an overview of the dimensions of poverty in Korea as well as the prevailing poverty incidence in the country. It proceeds to examine the economic growth and welfare changes that have taken place within the country through an exploration of the distribution and redistribution policies in place. Thereafter, it looks at institutional measures that have been implemented to assist the poor, the role of the private sector in reducing poverty and, finally, a glimpse into the regional distribution of income and wealth.
