This tracer study relates to trainees who had completed the National Diploma in Engineering Draughting Technology (NDEDT) conducted by the Institute during 2001 and 2002, with the objective of studying the effects of the programme and the difficulties experienced by the Institute in launching it. The purpose of the study is to examine the outcome of the diploma courses so that the findings of the study would help to evaluate the decision taken to terminate these certificate and diploma courses. The results of this study would help determine the appropriate strategies to be followed in relation to similar courses that are to be established by the NITESL in the future, which the Institute is considering reintroducing. The study also helps to identify the strengths and shortcomings of the Institute. The study revealed the necessity of increasing the public awareness of the Institute and marketing of the courses. The facilities provided for the students were generally satisfactory, but some improvements need to be made, to improve the facilities further.
