The World Bank, with the International Monetary fund, and their allies in the Washington financial consensus are concerned about their advocacy of the free market. Privatisation is an important feature of this market which forms one of the overt, or more often, covert, conditionality of ‘aid’ to developing countries in Latin America, Africa or Asia. By imposing privatisation, the World Bank and its associates are not only a threat to the independence of our countries, but a direct assault on that independence. Even though, this study was not originally created to examine these issues in detail, it has now became a beneficial by-product.
