The World Bank report published in Spring 2014, has its focus centred around the South Asia region. Recent economic developments in countries such as India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka, to name a few are looked at in detail. While some economies are able to recover, a significant number of emerging countries have weak growth rates. Countries such as India have been able to increase their domestic markets, thereby enabling them to be less vulnerable to external risks. High inflation across the regions remains a concern throughout, especially in regions where the population is under the poverty line. The overall outlook on South Asia remains positive.
