This the 2nd in a series of peace education publications initiated by the Social Scientists� Association�s Programme for Alternative Learning. This pamphlet focuses on the negotiation process involving the United National Front government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). This argues for a vision that goes beyond the limits of politics and political imagination concerning the UNF-LTTE political engagement. It also draws heavily from current scholarly debates on the possibilities for peace in intra-state conflicts. The publication discusses the contexts for negotiation in intra-state conflict, negotiation and settlement stability, negotiation paradox, the ceasefire, dimensions of the peace-dilemma, etc. Among other views presented, it is argued that one way of stabilizing and strengthening the transformative peace possibilities is by exploring interim options.
