This presentation mainly focuses on the potential for understanding poverty related to agricultural livelihoods. In the beginning it discusses whether the livelihood in agriculture linked to poverty in Sri Lanka using maps which indicate percentage of agricultural households, percentage of paddy holdings and Head count index for DS divisions, 2002 and in the latter part it focuses on the issues of productivity and profitability, specially related to paddy farming and pros and cons of commercialization.
