Questions about the link between poverty and inequality were the focus of the 7th Annual Symposium on Poverty Research in Sri Lanka, which was held under the theme 'Does Inequality Matter?'. The symposium provided a forum for researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders to discuss new research, both in Sri Lanka and in the region, and to discuss implications of this research on policy. This edited volume is a compilation of selected papers presented at last year?s symposium, examining the links between poverty and inequality and includes an introduction summarizing the main points from the panel discussions and plenary discussions held during the event.
දරිද්රතාව සහ අසමානතාව අතර ඇති සම්බන්ධතා යන්නෙන් 2006 වසරේ පැවැත්වූ හත්වන වාර්ෂික දරිද්රතා සම්මේලනයේදී ඉදිරිපත් කෙරුණු පත්රිකා එකතු කිරීමක් ලෙස මෙම එකතුව දැක්විය හැක. ශ්රී ලංකාවේ සහ කලාපයේ නව පර්යේෂණ පිළිබඳව සාකච්ජා කිරීමට සහ ප්රතිපත්ති සම්බන්ධයෙන් මෙම පර්යේෂණවල ඇඟවීම් සාකච්ජා කිරීමට පර්යේෂකයින්ට, ප්රතිපත්ති සම්පාදකයින්ට සහ අනෙකුත් පාර්ශවකරුවන්ට ඉඩකඩ ලබා දීම මෙම සම්මේලනයෙන් සිදු වේ. සමාජ බැහැරකරණය ඇතුලත්ව දරිද්රතාව හ අසමානතාව අතර ඇතිි සම්බන්ධතාවේ විවිධ පැතිකඩයන්, නව තාක්ෂණය ඇගයීම, ගැටුම්, වෙළඳාම සහ ගෝලීයකරණය පිළිබඳව අවධානය යොමු කෙරේ. ප්රායෝගිකව අසමානතාව යන්න ආමන්ත්රණය කළ හැක්කේ කෙසේද යන්න පිළිබඳව කණ්ඩායම් දෙකක් විසින් සලකා බලන ලදී. එනම් එය තම වැඩවලදී ආමන්ත්රණය කිරීම කරනු ලබන ආයතන තෝරා ගැනීමෙන් සහ ප්රතිපත්ති පසුතලය තුළ එය ක්රියාත්මක කළ හැක්කේ කෙසේද යනාදී වශයෙනි.
