Female goddess and tsunami
by Samarakoon, A.K.

This paper aims to further study the role of women in post-tsunami reconstruction in Sri Lanka. The essay first provides a methodological approach to development, which accepts the role of women in the economy. This is followed by the socio cultural and economic situation in Panama and a description of the existing gender gap in the settlement. The paper points out to the existing gender inequalities in the village and also looks at women in the post tsunami construction or recapitalization process.
