This paper looks at relationship between local women’s organisation and Northern NGO. This NGO has been working in Sri Lanka since the early 1980s, with the mission to fight poverty through community development and humanitarian assistance. The aim of this paper is to provide an understanding of the gender strategies of the NGO and the local women’s organisation (CBO). It also discusses the way in which knowledge about gender travels between the different levels in the NGO and the CBO and reflect on the lessons learned from this study and how to rethink the development of gender strategies in organisations and collaborations in the future.
